In the USA, the stray/feral cat population is estimated to be in the tens of millions.
Unaltered feral cats face a life of suffering: they rarely get enough to eat, fights between tomcats result in nasty wounds which often get infected. Males can travel up to 20 miles to mate with a fertile female. Females can give birth up to four times in one year, most of them suffer from starvation and disease, or die shortly after their birth.

Cat colonies can have numerous members and our goal is to get all the members fixed. We help train and advice colony caregivers how to humanely trap feral cats which are then transported to feral friendly veterinarians for vetting, rabies vaccination, and additional veterinary attention, if needed. When volunteers are available we will Trap, Transport, and Return feral cats for the elderly if no other family members are able. After a brief recovery all cats are returned to their colonies. The colonies no longer increase in size and are monitored by the caregivers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to end the use of euthanasia as a means to control animal over population by providing affordable spay/neuter to all pet owners and feral cat caregivers in a safe and humane environment. In addition, we consistently demonstrate the effectiveness of Trap-Neuter-Return, in hopes that it becomes the only choice for managing homeless cats. Through awareness and availability, we believe people will embrace positive solutions.

Wild Cat Foundation helps facilitate in the reduction of the feral cat population through TNR (Trap Neuter and Return) in Lafayette and surrounding parishes, and educates the populace about feral cats in general. We are a volunteer organization based in Lafayette, Louisiana and we received our non profit 501(c)3 status, February 2005.
