Our Story

We are a small organization - a handful of dedicated volunteers - doing BIG work!

It all started in the summer of 2002 when a colony of feral cats on the grounds of a local hospital had been the source of debate for quite some time. What would become Wild Cat Foundation worked with nurses, doctors and maintenance personnel to make the fate of the colony a success. In the end, 17 cats were TNR'd and 14 kittens were socialized and adopted!

While continuing the TNR work, Wild Cat Foundation obtained 501(c)3 status and, following numerous fundraisers and free/low cost spay/neuter events, spearheaded the creation and opening of SpayNation for Dogs & Cats, a low cost spay/neuter center, located in Lafayette, LA.

Big Fix Rig: 1082 animals altered!

Wild Cat Foundation was the driving force behind the coming of the Big Fix Rig, a mobile stationary spay/neuter clinic, to Lafayette, LA in March 2007.

Feral cats, as well as domestic cats and dogs, were neutered by a licensed veterinarian for a minimal fee. 982 animals were altered and 100 more were brought to local vets.
Every pet was cared for by a group of dedicated staff and volunteers.
